Frequently Asked Questions

How does it work?

Oliloli Studio offers paint-your-own- pottery.  Oliloli’s arts & crafts tables are available to guests during open studio hours. Just drop-in and do a project. Reservations are recommended for groups of 8 or more.  Our pricing is all inclusive.  We don’t charge a studio fee--you simply pay per project.  There are many options in the range of $18 to $28.

How does Paint-Your-Own-Pottery work?

Choose from a large selection of ceramics, including figurines, banks, bowls, mugs, plates, platters, and more, to create a lasting and usable work of art.  We carry over 65 beautiful paint colors.  Plan your one-of-a-kind design, and feel free to use our many stamps, stencils, silkscreens and sponges.  We will glaze and fire your pottery, and it will be ready in approximately 10 days.

All our paints are non-toxic, lead-free, and food-safe. Hand-wash your piece as you would any fine hand-painted pottery.  We recommend that you do not place your pottery in dishwashers and microwaves.

Where are you located?

Our address is:
103-23 Metropolitan Avenue
Forest Hills, NY 11375

We are located between 71st and 72nd Avenues, next door to Carvel.  Metered parking is available on Metropolitan Avenue, and non-metered parking is available on the side streets.  Oliloli is on the Q23 bus route.  It is a 1 mile walk from the Forest Hills/71st Ave. subway station, and the Forest Hills Long Island Railroad station.

What if I don't finish my project in one session?

In order to accommodate all our painters and process your artwork safely, we are not able to store unfinished projects at the studio. If you are working on a piece of pottery and are unable to finish it in one session, we will carefully pack it up for you to take home. You can bring it back with you on your next visit to finish.  Your second session is on us--there is a $6 studio fee for each additional session.

Can you fire pottery that I made or purchased elsewhere?

It is our studio policy that we do not fire materials made or purchased elsewhere.  Our kilns are programmed to fire the bisque and glazes we sell at our studio.  If we don't know the specifics of how the materials are made and what they contain, they may damage other pieces in the kiln.

Do you sell gift cards?

We sell gift cards!  They are available for purchase at our studio, in any denomination.  They do not expire.
